• Venous-Arterial ECMO can be set up on patients in multiple fashions but the basic set us is always the same.

•  The VA set up consist with a deoxygenated venous drainage cannula attached to the patients inferior vena cava running to the ecmo machine and then a oxygenated cannula returning to the patient via the aorta

Whether working with VA or VV ecmo the actually canulation process can be either peripheral cannulation or central cannulation, both have there pros and cons.
